Story from WNEP

A golf cart crashed into a tree in Wayne County and police said the driver is dead.

It happened around 1 p.m. Sunday on a dirt road near Long Pond Lake not far from Waymart. Troopers said when the cart hit the tree, the driver was thrown off the cart. Investigators said he's a man in his 60s.

An autopsy will be done Monday to determine if the man died from the crash or before the crash.

Waymart EMS goes to fatal motorcycle accident

story from www.cottageambulance.com
At approximately 5pm Cottage EMS & Rescue were sent to the Casey Highway near exit #7 for the reported motor vehicle accident with injuries.  Just after dispatch an EMS unit out of Wayne Co. reported on scene with "multiple severe injuries" and requested a helicopter.   With this information the EMS box was upgraded bringing additional Cottage EMS units, Waymart EMS and placing Wm. Walker EMS on standby.  Additional reports from the scene indicated a patient ejected over a 100 foot embankment.  The Rescue box was upgraded bringing R59 and R75.  Units arrived to find three patients, two motorcyclists in the roadway and one over the embankment.  EMS went to work packaging patients.  The patient over the embankment was deemed deceased by the medics.  One patient was transported to CMC by Waymart EMS with a Cottage medic on board while the 2nd patient was taken to CMC by LifeFlight 3.

The Rescue crew went to work setting up a haul system to remove the deceased victim upon the completion of the the PSP investigation.   The victim was packaged, placed in a stokes basket and hauled to the roadway by the R51 and R75 crews.

Plane crashes outside of Waymart

On Sunday July 5, 2009, Company 43, Rescue 75, Company 94, Waymart EMS, and Mobile 9 were dispatched to Stone Bridge Lane in Clinton Township at 17:47 hours for a small plane that had crashed. 75 Captain arrived on scene to report a small plane over a ravine with one patient. This small plane apparently lost power on the approach to the landing strip, slamming to the slide of a ravine, coming to rest on some downed trees. The pilot was still in the plane when emergency services arrived. The plane was immediately secured preventing it from sliding down the hill side into the stream below. Once extricated by Rescue 75, the pilot was treated by Waymart EMS and Mobile 9 then transported to CMC hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Story from Station 43
